Thomas Mackie

Thomas Hartland-Mackie is president and CEO of City Electric Supply Co. (CES) and executive chairman of City Electrical Factors Ltd. (CEF), the company’s UK operations, headquartered in Kenilworth, England. In his role at CES, Hartland-Mackie oversees all business for the electrical materials manufacturing and distribution company, which includes 569 locations across North America; 391 branches in the UK; and operations in Spain, Australia, and Ireland. Under his leadership, CES has achieved double-digit revenue growth each year since 2009 and is one of the world’s fastest growing distributors of electrical materials.

Prior to taking the reins at CES in 2008, Thomas held positions in all parts of the company as a management trainee and mentee to his grandfather, company founder Tom Mackie. Hartland- Mackie worked in the field at various branch locations in the US, Spain and the UK. His training also included stints in the accounting and finance departments, as well as CES’ in-house manufacturing facility.

In addition to CES, Hartland-Mackie serves as president and CEO of Labora Group, which he established in 2014 to oversee the family’s diverse business activities and philanthropic endeavors.

He was named Entrepreneur of the Year (Family Business Category) by Ernst & Young in 2019, and he has appeared on the National Association of Electrical Distributors’ 30 under 35 list in 2019 and the Dallas Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list in 2018.

A devoted family man, Hartland-Mackie is the proud father of three. When he isn’t with his CES and Labora work families, he enjoys spending quality time with his children and wife, Nasiba. He is also active in the local community and has a personal passion for art. He currently serves on the board of the Dallas Museum of Art.
